Reflective Learning of Hotel Planning and Design

I am a Malaysia Chinese girl and my name is Ng Yi Wen. I am 22 years old. Maybe you can call me Yvonne. My student ID is 1007LM88855. My e-mail address is yiwen101091@yahoo.com. I am a student who currently studying last semester in Taylor's University. I am taking Bachelor in Hospitality Management. I have no difference with other girls who like shopping. signing, watching movies and so on. But I have a pocket of dreams. And I am going to complete one by one after I have done my studies. One of my dreams is to own a small cafe. But before that I will let myself to become a professional Batista. 

They are my lovely group members and good friends as well. But now I am going to talk about what I have learnt in the subject which is Hotel planning and Design. In this subject, we are required to plan a fine dining restaurant. Although this is a group assignment but we still do it nicely and perfectly. 

We are required to have different skills to complete our group assignment in good conditions. First what we need is COMMUNICATION SKILLS. This is the most important requirement. A group can get very bad result just because of the communication between each others. And I think that our group has a very good communication with each others. Some of us are from different countries therefore we have to know and learn to communicate with them. Besides that, conflict will happen when you are not good in communicating with others. So that, I have learnt when to speak and when to listen. 

Secondly what skills do we need to complete an assignment is interpersonal skills. I have learnt how to manage my time to complete my assignment on time. Besides that, I also will ask the lecturer when I face some doubts.  

In doing this assignment, I think that gathering together and do the assignment is the best part of the assignment. It is because we have laugh and make fun together but still able to pass up the assignment on time. But in this assignment we also face some problems which are the skills of using autoCAD. All of us are not really good in using autoCAD. Therefore, we need more time to finish the assignment. And this also related to the digital literacy. Due to the assignment must complete by using autoCAD so we have to learn from other friends in how do we use those commands. Besides that, we have to calculate the dimensions. It is not a easy task to me since I have failed my Maths in high school.

In this assignment there is no leader. In other words, we work equally. I think that this is the fairest way to us. It is because we don't want to have any hierarchy level happens. I do not mind as being an ordinary member. As long as I have learnt something from it then I will be happy and satisfy on it. 

As I mentioned that i have worked with a batch of group mates who are from different background. From our outlooks maybe we have not much difference but from what we think and what we do we are totally different. But we fully use the advantages of each others. For example like Pris in our group. She is good in planning so that she plans what have to do. And for Claire she is good in inspection and tell us which parts have gone wrong and so on. For two others group member they are good in providing ideas. It is very good to our group project as well. It is because they are from China and they can tell us or give us some ideas that we cannot find in Malaysia. 

In what I think, overall we have done a very good job in our group assignment. Although we are not good in designing and drawing but we still able to complete a clear and easy understanding assignment. I think that we really do well in job assigned. But there is a draw back which is not good in using autoCAD. But at last, we still reviving for the best .

But I think to improve or do differently is in my creating part. I want to create a nice environment and comfort environment for the diner. As I mentioned that I wish that I could have my own cafe therefore the creativity is very important to me to create an unique cafe. Besides that, I think that I still can improving myself in using autoCAD. It is because I am able to design and draw a unique cafe for myself. And this is not easy to be done by everyone.
